I’ve been thinking a lot lately of the past 9 mo

I’ve been thinking a lot lately of the past 9 months and just how hard it was even though it didn’t seem like it at the time. I keep comparing it to how I was when my older boys were babies. I wasn’t the best mom then. I was in a very toxic relationship (followed by another toxic relationship) and then I was a very broke single mama. I felt angry all of the time. I was reactive instead of loving and caring like I longed to be. I felt like I wasn’t meant to be a mama. That this was somehow a mistake and that my babies deserved better. A better mom. Not me.

During my pregnancies with my older boys, I pined over those gorgeous nurseries and longed for my babies to have beautiful spaces. I felt like it wasn’t meant to be.

This time around, I recognized that the mama I was then was the best version she could be given the tools she had. She had nothing. If it weren’t for those few people that truly loved her…those babies could have had an angrier, sadder, mama. I can now acknowledge those signs and take the steps needed to be the best mama I can be and those little boys have a better mom now. I’ve learned that I don’t have to have a lot of money and I don’t have to hire someone to create those spaces for me. So here I am. 14 years after my first was born, staying up after bedtime to create those beautiful spaces I longed to give my babies so long ago.

To the new mama, I see you. Those crazy feelings will pass with time. Seek therapy if you feel able to. Don’t be afraid to speak up about how you’re feeling. Create those spaces that bring you joy and peace. Your babies need you. Even when you feel like they deserve better. Nothing is better than YOU. LOVE YOU. ♥️♥️♥️

This audio took my breath away. How often do we put ourselves on the “love it” list? It’s not something we automatically think of when we’re asked about the things we love… is it? This audio was a punch to the gut, because I don’t think I would have even named myself if asked this question. Sure I love DIY,, home design, my family and I am proud of myself. But do I really LOVE myself?

Sure, I love myself. But what is truly loving oneself? Is it buying that coffee? Or self care? Or is it accepting your body as it is, and giving yourself the space to be authentically…YOU?

Or is it giving yourself grace in difficult situations? So ask yourself, how can you love YOU more?

Cheers to one year post mold remediation. To celebrate, here is the aftermath of me discovering mold in our floors. To think I thought it wasn’t that bad 🤣🤣🤣

It’s crazy to think that almost a year ago, we were living in a hotel while our home was demo’d.
It often feels like it hasn’t come very far, but when I sit and look around, I see all of the amazing things that we’ve accomplished. The bathroom is done. The pantry is at the 90% mark, a grew a whole ass human, and we’re planning so many more projects.

We’re planning an exterior renovation, a nursery, finishing the kitchen and so so so much more.

2023 is our year.
