I can easily say that this is my favorite room reveal EVER. As a ridiculous Harry Potter fanatic, I’ve always dreamed of having a Harry Potter Nursery someday. I’m not into the gimmicky cheesy fan decor that you see a lot of times with character or movie inspired decor, so I set out to find details that were a subtle and elegant nod to the wizarding world.
I’m bursting with excitement to finally reveal the nursery for our little wizard ! For any Harry Potter fans out there, this nursery reveal is for you!
The Inspiration
For those who may not know me yet, my love for Harry Potter runs deep. So, when I found out we were expecting a little wizard (or witch!), we knew exactly the theme I wanted for the nursery – a whimsical and sophisticated space that captured the wonder of the wizarding world.
The Focal Point: A Black Family Tapestry
The centerpiece of our nursery is the breathtaking Black Family Tapestry wallpaper by MinaLima™ Designs. This officially licensed wallpaper features the iconic Black family crest, a constant reminder of Sirius Black’s unwavering courage and loyalty. The elegant black and grey tones of the wallpaper create a dramatic yet sophisticated backdrop, which feels perfectly moody for our nursery.
Mahogany Magic
To complement the Black Family Tapestry, we opted for a rich mahogany stain for the board and batten wainscoting. The warm tones of the wood add depth and texture to the space, while still maintaining an air of enchantment. Check out THIS POST on Instagram to see the transformation of the board and batten!
Magical Touches
We incorporated subtle nods to the wizarding world throughout the nursery. A plush chocolate frog sits perched on a cozy rocking chair, while Fawkes lights the night for bedtime stories. A spellbinding name sign made by a dear friend adorns the wall above his crib.
Practical Magic
Of course, a nursery needs to be functional as well as magical! We incorporated ample storage for diapers, wipes, and other essentials, ensuring practicality without sacrificing the whimsical theme. I couldn’t find a nursery dresser that I loved for this space so I sourced an antique dresser from another room in our house LOL! A comfy rocker provides a perfect spot for feeding and snuggling with our little one. PRO TIP: get a glider recliner instead. The amount of nights I spent rage rocking in this thing because it wouldn’t rock well or would move across the room was enough to make me want to throw it out the window! Also, your best friend during sleep regressions will be a yoga ball, trust me!
The Reveal
Alright, enough chit-chat, let’s get to the real reason you’re here – the nursery photos! We are absolutely smitten with how this space turned out, and we can’t wait to fill it with the sounds of tiny coos and the magic of parenthood. To see the full reveal, check out THIS POST on Instagram!
The BEFORE!
This room has seen a redo before. It started as a dirty, unloved white room that had trim that was chewed by the previous owner’s dog, holes in the wall, and mismatched paint colors. We quickly transformed it into a moody guest room which then evolved to our Duke’s Nursery that you see today!
We hope this glimpse into our Harry Potter nursery inspires you to create a space that reflects your own unique style and fandoms.
