We’re prepping to paint our house soon and there is so much that goes into the prep that I didn’t know needed to be done. One thing being giving your house a bath. I stopped by @loweshomeimprovement and grabbed this @30secondscleaners outdoor cleaner and gave my house a good cleaning.

Now, here is where I need your help. I thought I was set on which color to paint my house but then a friend painted her garage Black Fox by @sherwinwilliams and now I can’t decide.

When we looked at our home in November of 2019, so many people had come through but passed. Oblivious to the potential she held. We originally decided she needed more love than we were capable of giving. But I couldn’t let it go. I was dreaming of her. Envisioning the boys playing in the pool and running in the yard. I was finding excuses to drive by her. To get another look at her.

So one day, I begged Bill to look at her one more time. This time with a pro. He saw her potential too.. albeit through rose colored glasses like myself 🤣 a few hours later we were drafting our offer. And now look at how far she’s come! She has some crises along the way. But she’s on her way to becoming the most beautiful home of my dreams. Stick around to watch it unfold.

Phase 0.5 of the exterior renovation is complete. I say phase 0.5 because it’s kinda part one but it’s not fully done yet but it’s getting there.

I have tons of epic plans for our exterior but I also have a budget I have to keep in mind. Sure, I would love to 🔥🔥this janky AF deck to the ground, but our wallets are already on fire so a temporary fix is what we did for now. My friend Liz @cruzingonconner calls them bandaid fixes. They’re improvements to your home that aren’t meant to be permanent but improve the spaces enough to make them livable and enjoyable.

Not everyone can afford to do a massive, luxury renovation like you see so often here on Instagram and THAT’S OK! Just do what you can with the resources you have to make your home a place that suits you and brings you joy. You deserve to love your home, no matter your budget.

Ok, I’m gonna hop off my sappy soap box now and get back to making our dumpster fire of a house a little less shitty.

Tell me the tops of these pumpkins don’t look like puckered buttholes?!

But for real. I love the look of concrete decor but don’t love the price tag. Let me show you how to make these on a budget.

You’ll need:

Portland cement
Cheap nylon stocking/pantyhose
String

1. Mix cement with water until it’s a toothpaste-ish consistency.

2. Pour or scoop into pantyhose. Tie the tops tight.

3. Wrap string firmly around to make the pumpkin grooves.

Let cure for 24-48 hours and BOOM you have concrete pumpkins.

Don’t be like me. Just save yourself the scratch fest and mix dawn, high percent vinegar, and some salt and spray that shit down.

We bought an abandoned foreclosure four years ago and have been battling this shit since. Hopefully this is the nail in the coffin and it never comes back 🤣

| DIY Faux Oil Painting | Let me show you a cheap and easy way to fake the look of an oil painting!

SUPPLIES:

•Favorite ethically sourced print. I got mine from @etsy by
•Matte @modpodgecrafts
• frame and cardboard backing of choice

Step 1 - layer on a thick coat of Mod Podge. Be sure to make random brush strokes in the direction of objects in your print. Have fun with it!

Step 2- Let it fully dry and repeat step one.

Step 3 - Layer Mod Podge on your backing and apply print.

Step 4 - Apply print and layer Mod Podge on top, sealing the edges. Allow to dry and put back into the frame.

Isn’t that easy?!

In all seriousness, it was intimidating but not that hard to do. I followed a video on @loweshomeimprovement ‘s website and it made it a breeze. I’ll link the video in the comments and my stories today that I will save to a highlight so you can reference it later.

If you want to save yourself from having to replace your roof, CLEAN YOUR GUTTERS.

| Powder Room- Part 3 | Faux crown moulding. I’v $| Powder Room- Part 3 | Faux crown moulding. I’ve never had interest in learning how to install crown moulding plus is $30+ per piece. Here is a cheap and easy way to fake it! All you need is baseboards or door casing and some cove moulding. Bevel the ends at 45° like you would for baseboards. Slap it on the top of your walls near the ceiling and VOILA… faux crown moulding for a fraction of the price. The total cost for the “crown” in the powder room was $42 compared to the $90+ it would have cost to use true crown. Part who knows what of completing our summer home maintenance checklist! Time to take care of the pool filters! Our pool was a swamp hole when we bought our house. After extensive renovations we now have an amazing pool but I’m learning how to care for it properly. I don’t think this filter has been properly cleaned song we finished the pool 😱

How perfect is this wallpaper?!

If you would like a link to shop, you can comment “link” and my robot friend will send you an affiliate link to your “DMs”. I ordered the gray/blue version. 🫶

This wallpaper is pre-pasted. This means that the paste is already on the paper and just needs a little activation.

Some soak the paper, some spray with water. The instructions on the paper will help determine which is best. Once the paste is wet you “book” the paper by folding it on itself and allowing the paste to activate. It’s super simple!

My favorite thing about wallpaper with paste is how easily you can adjust and slide it around to line up the seams!

My goal with sharing my projects is to show you that they don’t have to be scary or intimidating and that really, you CAN do it too!

| Powder Room Renovation- part II | I definitely got in over my head thinking that I could renovate this space in only two days. Nothing in this house has ever been straight forward so I should have expected a major issue to arise. But alas, here we are.

The original plan was just to change the vanity to a pedestal sink, paint and wallpaper and BOOM, done. But life handed me both a sink leak and a toilet leak that left me having to rip up the floors and do some plumbing repair (check out part 1 for the deets).

But that’s ok! Home takes time, right?

Now we’re moving to the fun part! I got the marble tile floors installed and now I’m moving on to this GORGEOUS wallpaper I found at Lowe’s. It’s moody and traditional and paired with the burgundy ceiling it’s pure perfection.

Make sure you stay tuned because the final reveal is going to be awesome!
